Don’t know where this came from, but it is quite true that there is some kind of beauty that comes with having the capabilities to dunk a basketball. That is why vertical jump has become a real obsession among all sportspersons especially basketball players. I know it is very great to make three goals on just one shoot. But if you can actually charge down the court and dunk the ball, then you no doubt instantly gain credibility and pride. There are so many things that a sportsperson can do to gradually improve their Vertical Jump or vertical leap height. Here are some of the things that I have found to work best for me and my friends.

1. Performing Squats! You can use squats to help in your vertical jump. You should always try to augment your leg strength so as to push your body weight high off the ground. Doing Squats exercise is a great way of doing it. Do not carryout the power lifting style squats where you see how much weight you can put on the bar and only do once. Instead, you should do about 3/4 of your maximum weight and then explode up in a quick motion instead of the slow, down and up, that you would usually do. You can do it as much as you want, but I have found that doing it at least twenty repetitions with each set will usually increase your chances of success.

2. Performing Step Ups! The second vertical jump improvement method I will talk about in this article has to do with sit ups. This exercise is carried out in this manner: Just take a chair or something like it, place it straight ahead of you, then Step your right foot on the chair and then lift yourself onto the chair focusing on flexing your butt. Step down and replicate the same exercise only now do it with your left foot. You should do this a many times as possible. I mean do it until you can not possibly step up onto the chair anymore.

3. Performing Jump Ups! Stand about two feet away from a wall. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart. Then bend your knees and crouch down and explode upward. Lift your hands straight up and then touch the wall at your climax height . Pin point where you reached on the wall with a piece of tape just to give you something to shoot for with every jump you make. Now replicate the jump until you can no longer reach the mark you made on the wall. Within just few days, you will begin to see your mark moving up the wall. And then your vertical jump dreams won’t be far away.
