The Use Of Monthly Budget

November 17th, 2009

Create a monthly budget is something that most people never do. And this is one reason so many people with high debts today. In creating this budget that is a clearer understanding of where all the money is going and if there are any areas where you can cut.

First, you should know that your monthly income. From this, you must subtract all of the normal monthly expenses. You need to divide your expenses are necessary and those that may be optional, if your financial situation dictated that you do so.

Key points will include:

* Food
* Heating – gas, coal, oil or wood
* Water
* Power
* Phone (mobile or landline phone – you may need both)
* The rent or mortgage payments
* Childcare
* Home insurance (if you pay annually then divide that amount by 12)
* Vehicle insurance (if you pay annually then divide that amount by 12)
* Registration of vehicles
* Life insurance (if you pay annually then divide that amount by 12)
* Health insurance
* Medication or other medical needs
* Vehicle loan
* Credit cards
* Credit Lines
* Student loan
* Gas vehicle or other mode of transport
* Any other debt you have
* Food and cat litter
* Payment for school
* Clothing (I put this is important because we can not go naked! “But it can be adjusted downward, if necessary.)
* Household goods, such as light bulbs, detergents and soaps

Non-essential items will include:

* Internet (although this may be significant and, if it is always possible to revert to the use of fear Dial-Up)
* Satellite / cable TV
* Entertainment such as movies, concerts or sporting events
* Gym or sports membership and costs
* Items such as cigarettes and alcoholic drinks
* Pension funds (they are really needed, but may be reduced in times required)
* Makeup
* Restaurants

There are some costs that will arise during the year and they must be calculated into your monthly budget. If you do not include these questions, then your monthly budget will not reflect what you should be lifting each month to cover these costs. These elements could include the following:

* Home care
* Regular maintenance of vehicles and unplanned
* Gifts for Christmas, birthdays or other occasions
* Haircut / Styling
* Holidays
* Any other activities you would like to participate in such as hunting or skiing

Most people should have an idea of what they spend in a month. But as soon as they put it in the budget, they will see how easy income is spent on expenses. If you really do not know how much you spend each month, and then look at the monthly statements and invoices. Start saving all receipts for meals and other expenses, and then add them to the end of this month.

Obviously, the costs will always fluctuate. Maybe you are eating less than in June, you’re doing when it comes to Christmas. But, of your expenses and income on a sheet of paper really helps you realize your real financial situation and can plan accordingly.
