TheTop10 Female Wrestlers
Over the years, the WWE has implented women into their storylines. At first, they were primarily used as managers who would occasionally interfere with matches. Vince McMahon realized that these women were becoming increasingly popular and started featuring them in the ring. Now, there isn’t a show that goes on that won’t have a Diva present. A number of divas have made their way through the WWE over the years. There seems to be a great debate over who the top divas have been. A top “diva” is one that increases ratings for the wwe. It is sports entertainment right? These rankings are not based on the top “female wrestlers” but the top “divas”.
10. Christy Hemme had a short stay in the WWE. She was the first winner of the diva search in 2004. This red headed diva came into the WWE with a lot of spunk and charisma. Her appearance in the april 2005 edition of playboy magazine helped propel her career. Her wrestling highlight was an appearance on Wrestlemania 21 against then rival Trish Stratus. Christy became the TNA Knockout Of The Year in 2006 and is currently still with TNA wrestling.
9. Mickie James has been WWE Womens Champion four times. She has also recently held the WWE Divas Championship belt. Since the departure of Trish, Mickie may possibly be the best technical female wrestler on the WWE roster. She is ranked 1 of 50 in Pro Wrestling Illustrateds list of top female wrestlers. Mickie is a fan favorite and is certain to have a long career in the WWE.
8. Michelle McCool is possibly the most athletic diva in the WWE. She and Mickie James are the only divas to have been both WWE Divas Champion and WWE Womens Champion. Michelle made her debut in 2004 as part of the diva search, and has been rising in the ranks ever since. Pro Wrestling Illustrated has her ranked 8 of 50 female wrestlers.
7. Candice Michelle has benefited from exposure outside of the WWE. She was featured in the superbowl 37 godaddy commercial. She has also posed in playboy (april 2006). She has had success in the ring since her 2004 debut as part of the raw diva search. She has become WWE Womens Champion and was named Pro Wrestling Illustrated Women of the Year in 2007. Nagging injuries have kept candice from ranking higher on the list.
6. Lita, or Amy Dumas, was a staple of the WWE for many years. She was part of great storylines involving kane and edge, as well as having a fierce rivalry with trish stratus. Lita’s intensity in the wring made her extremely popular amoung WWE fans. She was not your typical “pretty blonde” diva, which helped with her popularity. She was WWE Womens Champion four times and was Pro Wrestling Illustrated Women of the Year in 2001.
5. Sunny, aka Tammy Lynn Sytch was a fixture in wcw as a manager for various wrestlers. She was a key component in how the WWE has changed its involvment with Divas. Her beauty made her extremely popular with the fans. She was awarded Slammy best buns in 1996 and Slammy minds behind the mayhem in 1996. In 1996 she was named manager of the year by Pro Wrestling Illustrated.
4. Sable (Rena Mero) was the first diva to pose for playboy. In fact, she was featured in the magazine three seperate times. Not only was sable gorgeous, but she managed to become WWF Womens Champion and earned the Slammy dressed to kill 97 and miss slammy 97.
3. Stacy Keibler was known for her 41 inch legs amoung other things in the WWE. At the age of 18, stacy was a Baltimore Ravens cheerleader. She was also a contestant on the popular show Dancing With The Stars. Stacy was the innocent looking diva of the group but was most famous for being the Legs Of The WWE.
2. Torrie Wilson was another Diva that benefited from an appearance in playboy magazine. She posed twice for the popular mens magazine. Torrie was a former Miss Galaxy(1998) and won the golden thong award in 2002. Torrie enjoyed a long stay with the WWE as a fan favorite.
1. Trish Stratus was by far the best all-around Diva. She had the looks, storylines, ring presence, and talent that propelled her to the top. She was WWE Womens Champion an amazing 7 times. She was Pro Wrestling Illustrated Woman of the Year 4 times. She earned Diva of the Decade in 2004 and was Babe of the Year from 2001-2003. She also laid claim to the Hardcore Championship (a mens title). Trish Stratus is almost a gaurantee to make everbody’s top 10 list.
