DiscoverThe Causes Of Cellulite: How Is It Formed?
The only good thing about cellulite is that it is non-life threatening. Yet it can have a very real effect on our lives. Many major decisions regarding our employment, personal relationships and even our love life are based on how we view ourselves.
Cellulite is a description rather than a physical object. The term ‘cellulite’ is used to describe the appearance of the skin. It looks like the bumps on an orange peal or lumpy like cottage cheese.
The question then becomes: How do we get cellulite?
The making of cellulite takes place deep within the skin. This is a case where beauty is from the outside in as well as from the inside out.
The formation of cellulite is a five step process.
The first step in the formation of cellulite is the way our fat metabolism is distributed.
The second step occurs when the fat cells become fatter. As these cells grow in size they squeeze the capillaries together.
This leads to a third step. The squeezing of the capillaries causes a disruption in our micro-circulation.
Step four follows as this disruption allows our skin’s elastin/collegan support structure to collapse.
Once this final step takes place fluid retention increases together with an increase of toxins.
There are many factors why some of us get cellulite and others don’t.
Some of these reasons are:
–Our genetic background has much to do with our getting cellulite and at what age. Unfortunately, we have little control over who our ancestors were.
–Cellulite can happen because of hormonal changes. When teenager go through puberty they are more prone to the formation of cellulite. Women who are going through menopause or just starting on birth control pill are also more at risk.
–Our diets can play a part in whether we get cellulite or not. If we already have cellulite, watching our diet can help stop it from getting any worse. A poor diet with an excessive amounts of fat, carbohydrates, salt, or one with too little fiber can all contribute to increased cellulite.
–Our lifestyle plays a large part in whether we get cellulite or not. Lack of exercise, sitting or standing in one position for long periods will contribute to the formation of cellulite.
–Wearing underwear that has tight elastic going across the middle of the buttock limits the blood flow which in turn causes cellulite to form.
–Smoking is another factor in the forming of cellulite. Another reason to stop smoking.
–Dehydration can also contribute to cellulite. We need to make sure that we take in enough liquids.
We have little control over some of the factors causing cellulite, however, there many things we do have control over. Something as simple as changing our lifestyle may go a long way to avoid getting those unsightly bumps.
